Shane & Julie
Owners
Shane and Julie grew up in Hood River and just like most kids enjoyed afternoons rolling around on bikes after school. However, they didn’t consider themselves "mountain bikers" until they decided to turn in their commuter bikes for, don da da don . . . MOUNTAIN BIKES!! Julie and Shane both saved and saved for their shiny GTs with triple triangle technology and snazzy Suntour shifters. They spent more and more time hanging out in bike shops and, once their new bikes were out of hock, they were off to explore the trails. Rain, snow, sleet and sometimes sun, they could be found on singletrack all over Oregon. Eventually, Julie decided to try her hand at mountain bike racing. That was fun and all, but after 5 years or so on the trail it was time to explore life on a road bike. When she and Shane decided to move back to Hood River in 1997 the road bike got more and more use. Before Julie knew it the boys took her on her first “long” ride. And she knew she was a “roadie chic” when she followed those boys around Mt. Hood in one day. Whew! From there she tried her hand at triathlons (on and off the road of course!), road racing and cyclocross. Since bikes took up most of her free time, it seemed natural to turn her favorite pastime into a profession. In 2001 she joined the crew at Discover Bicycles and in 2004 Julie and Shane bought the business. Since then she has worked to help establish a strong cycling community in the Columbia Gorge as a co-founder of the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic, Disco Divas ladies nights, and teaching spin classes during the winter months. Julie’s current goals are to kidnap other ladies and take them to Cyclocross races and to clear a tranie or two on the trails up north in Whistler. Life is good!

Guy from Missouri who smiles a lot.

Bari
Mechanic
He is a cool guy and nicer than he looks - just a big teddy bear!

Elliott
Mechanic
I ride because it's the first outdoor activity I happened to immerse myself in, via an older brother, but mostly for the fame and money. I've been riding for over a dozen years, 4 years of racing and I have 5 years bike shop experience. I like the shop because as a paying job it sort of supplies a pseudo-legit reason to get together with good people and entertaining co-workers to chat about bikes for 8 hours a day...and it's close to the fountain drink machine at taco del mar.
Craig
A nice guy from Florida or somewhere around there. When he is not a shuttle monkey, he surfs.
Spencer
Fast XC racer guy who goes to school in Vermont and summers with Discover Bicycles.
Seth
Hippie suspension guy.
Jennifer
Crazy athletic chick with more energy than the rest of us!
Jon
Tall guy from Ohio who... is from Ohio...
Jimmie
Local boy who has lived in most of the other mountain biking meccas, and now he's back in the Gorge.
